{"id":355,"date":"2017-04-02T01:01:43","date_gmt":"2017-04-02T00:01:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.ifla.org\/arl\/?p=355"},"modified":"2017-04-02T01:07:47","modified_gmt":"2017-04-02T00:07:47","slug":"arl-standing-committee-elections-third-candidate-statement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ifla.org\/arl\/2017\/04\/02\/arl-standing-committee-elections-third-candidate-statement\/","title":{"rendered":"ARL Standing Committee Elections \u2013 third candidate statement."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Third candidate statement: Adelaida Ferrer<\/p>\n<p>IFLA Standing Committee elections are currently underway, and the ARL Standing Committee is excited to be welcoming new members.\u00a0 We have invited our candidates to submit short biographies so that those of you who are voting members will have some background in making your selections.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Adelaida Ferrer<\/strong>\u00a0I was born in Barcelona in 1966. I studied the Diploma in Library Science and Documentation at the University of Barcelona and I have a degree in Documentation from the Carlos III University of Madrid.\u00a0I am currently working on my doctoral thesis on the use of the EFQM model in Spanish university libraries.\u00a0I work in the Library of the University of Barcelona for 28 years, in different techniques from the technical library, librarian, responsible for a technical unit, responsible for the library of entrepreneurs and finally director of the CRAI.\u00a0Since 2009, I am director of the Center for Resources for Learning and Research (http:\/\/crai.ub.edu\/) of the University of Barcelona. The CRAI has 17 libraries and 7 technical units that offer support services to the research and teaching of the entire university community.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.ifla.org\/arl\/files\/2017\/04\/aferrer.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-356\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.ifla.org\/arl\/files\/2017\/04\/aferrer-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.ifla.org\/arl\/files\/2017\/04\/aferrer-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.ifla.org\/arl\/files\/2017\/04\/aferrer-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/blogs.ifla.org\/arl\/files\/2017\/04\/aferrer.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I am evaluator in the model of excellence of the European quality management of the foundation, with experience in the evaluation in university libraries. Member of the Management Club of Excellence.\u00a0He taught in management of information and cataloging units at the University of Barcelona and at the Open University of Catalonia. I am interested in quality assessment and library management issues (strategic, communication, marketing plans and everything related to user care and satisfaction).\u00a0I have been an alternate delegate in the EMEA Regional Council of OCLC since 2016.\u00a0In 2014, I joined the IFLA Academic and Research Standing Committee, representing REBIUN, the network of Spanish university libraries. For me, it has been an incredible opportunity to learn about experiences from other university libraries and to be able to import them into the reality of our libraries.
