{"id":1842,"date":"2022-10-30T21:54:57","date_gmt":"2022-10-31T01:54:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.ifla.org\/cpdwl\/?p=1842"},"modified":"2022-10-30T21:54:57","modified_gmt":"2022-10-31T01:54:57","slug":"10th-forum-of-young-librarians-of-russia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ifla.org\/cpdwl\/2022\/10\/30\/10th-forum-of-young-librarians-of-russia\/","title":{"rendered":"10th Forum of Young Librarians of Russia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The 10th Forum of Young Librarians of Russia was held in Moscow on the 11-<br \/>\n13th of October, 2022, and was designed to promote professional development<br \/>\nof young librarians, to increase their motivation to improve competencies and<br \/>\nboost their creativity, to create favourable conditions for professional<br \/>\nnetworking and launching team projects.<br \/>\nThemed \u201cShow Yourself to the World\u201d, the Forum was the largest in the history<br \/>\nof the young librarians movement in the country. Supported by the Ministry of<br \/>\nCulture of Russia and Russian Library Association, the Forum brought together<br \/>\nover 350 new professionals from more than 60 regions of the Russian<br \/>\nFederation.<br \/>\nThe Russian State Library for Young Adults, M. Rudomino All-Russia State<br \/>\nLibrary for Foreign Literature and the Russian State Library developed the<br \/>\nconcept and organized this significant event, supported by the Russian Library<br \/>\nAssociation, federal libraries and the Moscow library system.<br \/>\nAmong the Forum\u2019s speakers and coaches were prominent library experts, as<br \/>\nwell as IT and creative industry professionals, specialists in social<br \/>\nentrepreneurship and the arts, career development and advancement.<br \/>\nIt was important for young librarians to meet prominent people in their<br \/>\nprofession and to feel the attention and interest on the part of the high-ranking<br \/>\nofficials who determine the development trajectory of the country. President of<br \/>\nthe Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, Minister of Culture of the Russian<br \/>\nFederation Olga Lyubimova, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Youth<br \/>\nAffairs Artem Metelev made welcoming addresses to the participants. The<br \/>\nexperienced library experts shared memories, gave advice, laid out their vision.<br \/>\nThe three-day program included about 80 events at more than 20 venues. The<br \/>\ndiscussions centered upon realities and prospects of the library field in Russia.<br \/>\nOn the first day the panel discussion, \u201cKnowledge economy: what a young<br \/>\nperson needs to know and be able to do to become part of it\u201d, was aimed at<br \/>\nengaging new professionals in an intensive process of learning new ideas and<br \/>\nproviding them with the skills and abilities, which they could utilize back in<br \/>\ntheir regions.<br \/>\nOn the second day the participants were offered a variety of interactive events at<br \/>\neight federal libraries, which hosted lectures, discussions, pitch sessions,<br \/>\ntraining sessions and master classes, introducing the participants to their<br \/>\npractices and inviting them to join the on-going projects as well as to produce<\/p>\n<p>their own. In the afternoon, 32 papers were delivered in the pitch sessions under<br \/>\nthe themes \u201cHow can library become a driver of creativity and intellect?\u00bb and<br \/>\n\u00abDialogue of Cultures in the Library\u00bb. The communication at the Forum<br \/>\nenriched the participants with new knowledge and emotions and resulted in<br \/>\ngrowing friendship between people, libraries and cities.<br \/>\nThe third day of the Forum was marked by a highlight event \u2013 the ten (out of<br \/>\n90) shortlisted teams from the regions of Russia presented their projects within<br \/>\nthe All-Russia competition for the best library project held among new<br \/>\nprofessionals. The competition showcased projects related to creative industries,<br \/>\ninclusion, volunteering, local studies, information literacy, organization of<br \/>\nlibrary space, promotion of books and reading, etc. The three winning projects,<br \/>\nwhich came up with the most creative and enriching practices, were announced<br \/>\nbased on the results of the on-site electronic voting of the Forum participants<br \/>\nand the professional jury. The winners were awarded diplomas, cash certificates<br \/>\nand gifts.<br \/>\nThe first prize was awarded to the project \u201cLibrary Volunteers, Sparkles of<br \/>\nGood\u201d from the town of Beriozovsky (Sverdlovsk Oblast). The local librarians<br \/>\nview their library as an open and inclusive space offering equal opportunities to<br \/>\neveryone. In 2013, they launched an inclusive television studio \u00abCompass TV\u00bb<br \/>\nas part of the library volunteers club \u201cSparkles of Good\u201d. It has brought together<br \/>\ndisabled young adults from the local municipality. The TV studio helps them<br \/>\nrecord podcasts, make and edit videos and movies about books, libraries,<br \/>\nmuseums. The volunteers assist their library in organising events, eg meetings<br \/>\nwith interesting people, training workshops.<br \/>\nThe second prize was won by the Ilyinka Digital project from the city of Nizhni<br \/>\nNovgorod. One of the city library branches set up a creative space for youth<br \/>\nwhere IT-technologies help reconstruct the historical appearance of Ilyinka<br \/>\nStreet and its surroundings. The modern digital methods of 3D modelling and<br \/>\nholography restore images of the historical buildings. The users can conduct<br \/>\nresearch in local studies on their own and discover the city\u2019s historical and<br \/>\ncultural heritage.<br \/>\nThe third prize was given to the project \u201cEmotional Map of Kolomna\u201d<br \/>\npresented by the team from the town of Kolomna (Moscow Region). In 2021,<br \/>\nthe public libraries of Kolomna launched an interactive map displaying town<br \/>\nsights which are ideal to dream or appoint romantic dates or spend time alone,<br \/>\netc. The sights include photographs, brief historical overviews and legends<br \/>\nassociated with the places, as well as an audio guide of stories told by town<br \/>\nresidents, thus incorporating their impressions of the native town. Anyone can<\/p>\n<p>use the Emotional Map of Kolomna to line up a route and delve into the local<br \/>\nhistory. This project reveals the local people\u2019s emotional ties to their hometown,<br \/>\nupholds them and generates a genuine interest in the local cultural heritage.<br \/>\nThese winning projects constituted the first contribution to the Bank of Creative<br \/>\nIdeas and Innovative Practices, a project realized by the Russian State Library<br \/>\nfor Young Adults with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian<br \/>\nFederation.<br \/>\nThe host of the next Forum of Young Librarians of Russia in 2023 will be the<br \/>\ncity of Chelyabinsk and the Chelyabinsk Regional Universal Scientific Library.<\/p>\n<p>The recording in Russian can be viewed here: https:\/\/youtu.be\/vJVG5IJcIfE<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The 10th Forum of Young Librarians of Russia was held in Moscow on the 11- 13th of October, 2022, and was designed to promote professional development of young librarians, to increase their motivation to improve competencies and boost their creativity, to create favourable conditions for professional networking and launching team projects.
