Advocacy is about building support.<\/p>\n

It relies on convincing other people of the need to speak, and to act, for libraries.<\/p>\n

They, in turn, are the ones who can make a difference for you in your work.<\/p>\n

Successful advocacy may rely on a whole network \u2013 from those in power (see Exercise #6<\/a>) to journalists (see Exercise #14<\/a>) and other partners (see Exercise #8<\/a>).<\/p>\n

It may even involve your friends, who have helped you refine your message (see Exercise #21<\/a>) or repeat it around them (see Exercise #43<\/a>).<\/p>\n

These people make a difference, and it\u2019s important to recognise this.<\/p>\n

So for our 49th<\/sup> 10-Minute Library Advocate exercise, say thank you!<\/p>\n

You can send a card or note \u2013 hand-written makes it even more personal \u2013 or just make sure you show your gratitude when you see them.<\/p>\n

You could even make a wall of fame for library friends!<\/p>\n
