{"id":3299,"date":"2022-01-03T13:25:57","date_gmt":"2022-01-03T12:25:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.ifla.org\/lpa\/?p=3299"},"modified":"2022-01-03T13:25:57","modified_gmt":"2022-01-03T12:25:57","slug":"the-10-minute-international-librarian-79-think-about-how-to-green-your-library","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ifla.org\/lpa\/2022\/01\/03\/the-10-minute-international-librarian-79-think-about-how-to-green-your-library\/","title":{"rendered":"The 10-Minute International Librarian #79: Think about how to green your library"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In November of last year, governments made new commitments to reducing emissions in order to limit climate change.<\/p>\n<p>While many have suggested that not enough was promised, it will be worse still if even this is not delivered.<\/p>\n<p>Crucially, mitigating and adapting to climate change requires work at all levels.<\/p>\n<p>It is about changing practices and behaviours, not just policies.<\/p>\n<p>Amongst our New Year\u2019s Resolutions, it is therefore important to think about how we can be more sustainable, and use the place of libraries within communities to do the same!<\/p>\n<p>So for our 79<sup>th<\/sup> 10-Minute International Librarian exercise, think about how to green your library.<\/p>\n<p>You could think about any or all of your buildings, your operations, your collections and your programming.<\/p>\n<p>Are there renovations that could make a difference? Could you use less energy? Could you share more works explaining the issues around climate change and greener living?
