One of the words on everyone\u2019s lips is \u2018transformation\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Given the huge progress still needed in order to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030, this isn\u2019t a surprise. We need to do things very differently in order to avoid falling short.<\/p>\n<p>The alternatives \u2013 business as usual or only incremental improvements \u2013 aren\u2019t enough.<\/p>\n<p>And so ministers, officials and experts are focused on identifying opportunities and sharing ideas on new approaches that will have a radical positive impact.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, information \u2013 and so libraries \u2013 can be transformative, given its potential to improve decision-making, enable innovation, and support democratic participation.<\/p>\n<p>So for our 96th 10-Minute International Librarian exercise, explain how you drive transformation.<\/p>\n<p>What activities are you doing \u2013 or could you do \u2013 that really allow people and communities to change for the better?<\/p>\n<p>Think ambitious \u2013 transformation is a big word \u2013 and set out the series of steps between what you are doing and the difference you can make.<\/p>\n<p>You can take a look at some of the great campaigns that already exists \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ala.org\/advocacy\/libraries-transform-campaign#:~:text=Libraries%20Transform%20is%20an%20ALA,lives%20and%20communities%20through%20education.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Libraries Transform<\/a> in the US, and <a href=\"https:\/\/librarieschangelives.org.au\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Libraries Change Lives<\/a> in Australia for a start \u2013 for ideas, but make your example relevant to your context.<\/p>\n<p>Share your ideas in the comments below.<\/p>\n<p>Good luck!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>This idea relates to the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ifla.org\/strategy\">IFLA Strategy<\/a>! <\/strong><em>Key Initiative 1.1: Show the power of libraries in delivering the Sustainable Development Goals<\/em><em>.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>You can view our other posts in this series using the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ifla.org\/lpa\/tag\/10minuteinternationallibrarian\/\">#10MinuteInternationalLibrarian<\/a>\u00a0tag on this blog, and of course on IFLA\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ideas.ifla.org\/\">Ideas Store<\/a>!
