Which library is on Facebook, which one on Google+, too, and how many libraries twitter? Has my library more fans on Facebook than the library xyz? <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span lang=\"en-US\">Since 2011 the <a href=\"http:\/\/zbw.eu\" target=\"_blank\">Leibniz Information Centre for Economics<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span lang=\"en-US\"><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size: small\">\u2014<\/span><\/span><\/span>located in Kiel and Hamburg\u2014collects daily data and draws up monthly overviews on the social media activities of libraries. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p lang=\"en-US\"><a href=\"http:\/\/en.bibcharts.eu\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1033\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1033 \" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.ifla.org\/public-libraries\/files\/2016\/02\/Bildschirmfoto-2016-02-25-um-18.09.55-300x157.png\" alt=\"Bildschirmfoto 2016-02-25 um 18.09.55\" width=\"455\" height=\"238\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.ifla.org\/public-libraries\/files\/2016\/02\/Bildschirmfoto-2016-02-25-um-18.09.55-300x157.png 300w, https:\/\/blogs.ifla.org\/public-libraries\/files\/2016\/02\/Bildschirmfoto-2016-02-25-um-18.09.55-768x402.png 768w, https:\/\/blogs.ifla.org\/public-libraries\/files\/2016\/02\/Bildschirmfoto-2016-02-25-um-18.09.55-1024x536.png 1024w, https:\/\/blogs.ifla.org\/public-libraries\/files\/2016\/02\/Bildschirmfoto-2016-02-25-um-18.09.55.png 1239w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 455px) 100vw, 455px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span lang=\"en-US\">When the ZBW started with the BibCharts there was some criticism: <a href=\"http:\/\/infobib.de\/2011\/07\/30\/bibcharts-der-zbw\/\" target=\"_blank\">a blogger stated<\/a> that mere quantitative comparism was superficial. Success in the social web was not expressed by fan numbers, but by interaction (see<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><u><\/u><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span lang=\"en-US\"> also comments on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.zbw-mediatalk.eu\/2011\/07\/bibliotheken-im-social-web-zbw-launcht-bibcharts-eu\/#comments\" target=\"_blank\">ZBW blog<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span lang=\"en-US\">, in German). <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p lang=\"en-US\"><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size: small\">The ZBW responds to such criticism that their table is not a ranking, but an overview.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span lang=\"en-US\">It is stated in <a href=\"http:\/\/en.bibcharts.eu\/about.jsp\" target=\"_blank\">\u201eAbout Bibcharts\u201c<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span lang=\"en-US\"> that the values are fetched directly via the interfaces of Facebook, Twitter, and Google+, and are automatically entered into the table at the beginning of each month. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span lang=\"en-US\">Currently there are mainly libraries from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland on the list, but the ZBW wants to extend the overview step by step.
