Additionally, further funding was secured from Arts Council England\u2019s Grants for the Arts (Libraries) pot which went towards developing the successful <a href=\"http:\/\/www.oldham.gov.uk\/liveatthelibrary\">live@thelibrary<\/a> programme and brand. Their idea was to support the key strategic aims of Oldham Council Libraries to raise the profile of the library as a resource not only for learning and social development, but also as a place to experience live cultural performances.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1242\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.ifla.org\/public-libraries\/files\/2016\/09\/Oldham.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1242\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1242\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.ifla.org\/public-libraries\/files\/2016\/09\/Oldham-300x195.jpg\" alt=\"The entrance to Oldham Library\" width=\"300\" height=\"195\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.ifla.org\/public-libraries\/files\/2016\/09\/Oldham-300x195.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.ifla.org\/public-libraries\/files\/2016\/09\/Oldham.jpg 615w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-1242\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The entrance to Oldham Library<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The rejuvenated performance space now has a capacity of around 80 people. The library has worked closely with other partners in Oldham to bring in a wide range of events, including musicians, drama troupes, comedians, authors and TEDx talks. The brand works extremely well, and their marketing strategy is an important part of the brand\u2019s success. Impressively, the project has significantly increased library membership throughout its first year of operation.
