{"id":1529,"date":"2017-08-22T16:25:34","date_gmt":"2017-08-22T15:25:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.ifla.org\/public-libraries\/?p=1529"},"modified":"2017-08-22T16:25:34","modified_gmt":"2017-08-22T15:25:34","slug":"report-from-wroclaw-environmental-sustainability","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ifla.org\/public-libraries\/2017\/08\/22\/report-from-wroclaw-environmental-sustainability\/","title":{"rendered":"Report from Wroclaw &#8211; Environmental Sustainability"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Members of the Public Libraries Standing Committee are actively participating in the WLIC program in Wroclaw. <strong>Lo Claesson<\/strong> reports:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.ifla.org\/public-libraries\/files\/2017\/08\/FullSizeRender.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-1530\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.ifla.org\/public-libraries\/files\/2017\/08\/FullSizeRender-300x278.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"278\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.ifla.org\/public-libraries\/files\/2017\/08\/FullSizeRender-300x278.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.ifla.org\/public-libraries\/files\/2017\/08\/FullSizeRender.jpg 320w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I was invited as a speaker at the session Libraries&#8217; Commitment to the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development &#8211; Environmental Sustainability and Libraries SIG.\u00a0It was an offsite meeting at the Center for Scientific and Technical\u00a0Information in Wroclaw.<\/p>\n<p>My \u00a0presentation was about The Green Corner at Vaggeryd Public Library.\u00a0I gave a background to why we started it and also some examples of activities we do in connection to the information on sustainable development.<\/p>\n<p>Our Green Corner is connected to the municipality&#8217;s environmental strategy and we partner with different actors in the municipality, for example schools, the environmental department and the recycling plant.\u00a0We make exhibitions, have lectures and every year we take part in Earth Hour.We try to integrate the work with the Green Corner in most library work and I tried to show you can do this at a very low cost.<\/p>\n<p>About 50 people attended and I got some interesting questions.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Members of the Public Libraries Standing Committee are actively participating in the WLIC program in Wroclaw.
