{"id":1662,"date":"2018-03-29T00:59:23","date_gmt":"2018-03-28T23:59:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.ifla.org\/public-libraries\/?p=1662"},"modified":"2018-03-29T00:59:23","modified_gmt":"2018-03-28T23:59:23","slug":"ecology-education-and-culture-libraries-as-a-model","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ifla.org\/public-libraries\/2018\/03\/29\/ecology-education-and-culture-libraries-as-a-model\/","title":{"rendered":"Ecology, Education and Culture: Libraries as a Model"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The Tunisian Federation of University Libraries &#8220;FEBUS&#8221; <\/strong>in collaboration with <strong>IFLA: Public Libraries Section<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&amp; <strong>Higher Institute of ISD Documentation University of Manouba<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em> Ecology, Education and Culture: Libraries as a Model<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Tunis &#8211; 21-22-23 June 2018<\/p>\n<p><strong>Call for Papers<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>The Federation of University Libraries and Specialized Documentation and Information Services invites proposals for papers to be presented at its International Conference <strong><em>Ecology, Education and Culture: Libraries as a Model<\/em> <\/strong>to be held in Tunis, Tunisia 21-23 June 2018.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Main theme <\/strong>The Conference will showcase international best practice for environmentally sustainable libraries in educational and cultural institutions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Audience <\/strong>The conference is targeted at Library and Information Professionals<strong>, <\/strong>Cultural institutions; Ecologists; Teachers and researchers, Students.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The issues dealt with by the conference<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Conference program will focus on the themes detailed below and proposals should reflect one of these:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Sustainable Environment<\/strong> \u2013 the way in which libraries and resource centres can be more ecologically and socially responsible and help to establish an environmental culture, spaces that respect and support sustainable development<\/li>\n<li><strong>Sustainable Resources<\/strong> -The consideration of the ecological dimension in the acquisition, monitoring and organization of documents;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Sustainable Technologies<\/strong> -The consideration of the ecological dimension in the construction, renovation and maintenance of equipment: minimize the negative impact on the environment and maximize the ecological and economic benefits<\/li>\n<li><strong>Sustainable Services<\/strong> &#8211; The consideration of the ecological dimension in the programming of cultural action and in partnership practice; The participation of users as a stakeholder in the life of the green library; The intergenerational transmission and its impacts on ecological awareness;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>There are three ways to participate in the conference:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Conferences, papers, studies, research, and reports related to the themes of environment and ecology in cultural institutions<\/li>\n<li>Demonstration of best practices, equipment and furniture used in ecological information services and a fair for environmental activities<\/li>\n<li>Training on \u2018Pathways to Green Libraries: theory and practice\u2019 working with librarians and archivists in ecological practices: awareness of environmental problems in their professions.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Proposal guidelines: <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Proposals must be original work of author(s), address one or more of the sub-themes, written in English, French or Arabic, and include:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Title of proposed paper:<\/li>\n<li>Name(s) of author(s).<\/li>\n<li>Author\u2019s professional role and institutional affiliation, if any.<\/li>\n<li>Author\u2019s e-mail address and telephone number (s).<\/li>\n<li>Abstract of the proposed paper; and<\/li>\n<li>Short professional profiles of presenter(s)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>The proposal should not exceed 2 pages in 12 font<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><u>\u00a0<\/u><\/p>\n<p><strong>Submissions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>All proposals will be reviewed by a panel set up by the Committee.
