To find out we&#8217;d like to introduce you to a new public library\u00a0evaluation tool, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.libraryranking.com\/index.html\">LRE Library Ranking Europe<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This project is being undertaken by retired Librarians\u00a0Maija\u00a0 and Mats Berndston who argue that\u00a0&#8216;in order to measure the quality and the standard of a public library from a citizen and customer perspective a common tool that could be used as a guideline for future improvement and development is needed. This should be based on the concrete services that the measured library offers.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>The areas considered are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Information About The Library<\/li>\n<li>Site, Visibility And Access<\/li>\n<li>Service And Supply<\/li>\n<li>Premises<\/li>\n<li>Choice Of Collection<\/li>\n<li>Freedom Of Expression And Of Choice<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Already 27 libraries have been assessed using mystery shopping principles.
