The Chaos Computer Club calls it the <a href=\"https:\/\/events.ccc.de\/congress\/2015\/wiki\/Main_Page\" target=\"_blank\">\u201e<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/events.ccc.de\/congress\/2015\/wiki\/Main_Page\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span lang=\"en-US\">annual four-day conference on technology, society and utopia\u201c<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-family: Arial,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span lang=\"en-US\">. <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span lang=\"en-US\">12.000 hackers and computer experts came together to take part in about 130 lectures and workshops (see the recordings on <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000080\"><span lang=\"zxx\"><u><a href=\"https:\/\/media.ccc.de\/c\/32c3\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span lang=\"en-US\">https:\/\/media.ccc.de\/c\/32c3<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><\/u><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span lang=\"en-US\">, many in English). <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p lang=\"en-US\"><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size: small\">So what? What are the connections to public libraries? <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span lang=\"en-US\">Unfortunately there are not many\u2014although libraries have widely open access policies, many digital resources, provide makerspaces, and even lend hardware such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.arduino.cc\/\" target=\"_blank\">Arduino<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span lang=\"en-US\">, <a href=\"http:\/\/makeymakey.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">MaKey MaKey Kits<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span lang=\"en-US\">, and <a href=\"http:\/\/hotspot.nypl.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">wifi hotspots<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span lang=\"en-US\">. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span lang=\"en-US\">There was a presentation by <a href=\"http:\/\/monoskop.org\/Marcell_Mars\" target=\"_blank\">Marcell Mars<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span lang=\"en-US\"> with the title <a href=\"https:\/\/media.ccc.de\/v\/32c3-7279-public_library_memory_of_the_world\">\u201ePublic Library\/Memory of the World. <\/a><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/media.ccc.de\/v\/32c3-7279-public_library_memory_of_the_world\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span lang=\"en-US\">Access to knowledge for every member of society\u201c<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-family: Arial,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span lang=\"en-US\">. I was surprised that public libraries found their way to the programme of the CCC. But no, wait a moment: it is a presentation on Marcell Mars&#8217; own shadow e-book-library. He just takes the notion of Public Library as the \u201cuniversal space of free exchange of all knowledge\u201d and turns himself and his friends into librarians. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201c<span style=\"font-family: Arial,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span lang=\"en-US\">Mars\u2019s project has taken this broad consensus [on public libraries] as the basis for Public Library and on-line book sharing project which promulgates the utopian \u2028hacker ethic of the universal space of free exchange of all knowledge by \u2028seeking to fuse a number of existing internet based projects for either \u2028managing or exchanging electronic publications (such as Calibre) along with\u2028his own plug ins to create a peer 2 peer culture for the exchange of books.\u201d (<\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000080\"><span lang=\"zxx\"><u><a href=\"http:\/\/new-tactical-research.co.uk\/blog\/1012\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span lang=\"en-US\">http:\/\/new-tactical-research.co.uk\/blog\/1012\/<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><\/u><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span lang=\"en-US\">) <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p lang=\"en-US\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size: small\">It is nonetheless very interesting to see how a library a hacker invents looks like. The \u201epublic library\u201c is a \u201edistributed internet infrastructure for amateur librarians\u201c sharing their e-book-collections (and very likely not caring about any copyright rules).<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span lang=\"en-US\">So how shall an OPAC look like? Chaos Communication Congress (CCC) statt \u2013 diesmal wieder in Hamburg. Worin bestehen die Verbindungen? <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span lang=\"de-DE\">Leider gibt es bislang nicht allzu viele \u2013 obwohl Bibliotheken weithin Open Access Policies haben, eine Vielzahl an digitalen Ressourcen, Makerspaces besitzen und sogar Hardware ausleihen wie z. B.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.arduino.cc\/\" target=\"_blank\"> Arduino<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000080\"><span lang=\"zxx\"><u><a href=\"https:\/\/www.arduino.cc\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span lang=\"de-DE\">,<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><\/u><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span lang=\"de-DE\"> <a href=\"http:\/\/makeymakey.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">MaKey MaKey Kits<\/a> <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span lang=\"de-DE\">und <a href=\"http:\/\/hotspot.nypl.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">WLAN-Hotspots<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span lang=\"de-DE\">. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span lang=\"de-DE\">Aber es gab einen Vortrag von <a href=\"http:\/\/monoskop.org\/Marcell_Mars\" target=\"_blank\">Marcell Mars<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span lang=\"de-DE\"> mit dem Titel <a href=\"https:\/\/media.ccc.de\/v\/32c3-7279-public_library_memory_of_the_world\" target=\"_blank\">\u201c\u00d6ffentliche Bibliothek \/ Ged\u00e4chtnis der Welt. Der Zugang zu Wissen f\u00fcr jedes Mitglied der Gesellschaft\u201d<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span lang=\"de-DE\">. Ich war \u00fcberrascht, dass \u00d6ffentliche Bibliotheken ihren Weg ins Programm des CCC gefunden hatten. Aber nein, Moment mal: Es handelt sich um einen Vortrag zu Marcell Mars&#8217; eigener Schatten-E-Book-Bibliothek. Er \u00fcbernimmt nur das Konzept der \u00d6ffentlichen Bibliothek als \u201euniverseller Ort des freien Austauschs von Wissen\u201d und macht sich selbst und seine Freundinnen und Freunde zu Bibliothekar_innen. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201e<span style=\"font-family: Arial,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span lang=\"de-DE\">Mars&#8217; Projekt nimmt den breiten Konsens zu \u00d6ffentlichen Bibliotheken als Basis seines &#8216;Public Library&#8217;-Projekts, des Projekts des Online-B\u00fcchertauschs. Er verk\u00fcndigt die utopische Hacker-Ethik des universalen Ortes f\u00fcr den freien Austausch allen Wissens, indem er eine Anzahl bereits bestehender internetbasierter Projekte zur Verwaltung oder zum Austausch elektronischer Publikationen (wie Calibre) mit einem eigenen Plug-in verkn\u00fcpft, um eine Peer-to-Peer-Kultur des Austauschs von B\u00fcchern zu schaffen.\u201c<\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span lang=\"en-US\"> (<\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000080\"><span lang=\"zxx\"><u><a href=\"http:\/\/new-tactical-research.co.uk\/blog\/1012\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span lang=\"en-US\">http:\/\/new-tactical-research.co.uk\/blog\/1012\/<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><\/u><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span lang=\"en-US\">) <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p lang=\"de-DE\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size: small\">Nichtsdestotrotz ist es sehr interessant sich anzuschauen, wie eine Bibliothek aussieht, die ein Hacker erschafft. Die \u201ePublic Library\u201c ist eine \u201everteilte Internet-Infrastruktur f\u00fcr Amateur-Bibliothekar_innen\u201c, die ihre E-Book-Sammlungen tauschen wollen (und sich wahrscheinlich nicht besonders um irgendwelche urheberrechtlichen Regeln scheren). <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span lang=\"de-DE\">Wie sollte ein OPAC also aussehen? Auf <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000080\"><span lang=\"zxx\"><u><a href=\"http:\/\/www.memoryoftheworld.org\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span lang=\"de-DE\">www.memoryoftheworld.org<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><\/u><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span lang=\"de-DE\"> ist der Hacker-OPAC zu sehen: blo\u00dfe Cover und ein direkter (!)
