In collaboration with the International Association of School Librarianship, the School Libraries Section developed online training materials to support associations and other agencies and individuals in their work to develop and improve school library services.<\/p>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2>Topics of interest:<\/h2>\n<p>The School Libraries Section invites submission of proposals for papers (including case studies) about school library advocacy initiatives. The papers will be presented at a two-hour session in Lyon; the language of the session will be English. Proposals might address one of the topics suggested, but are not limited to these topics:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Establishment of a new school library association<\/li>\n<li>Collaboration to change school library legislation<\/li>\n<li>Development of a school library network<\/li>\n<li>Government initiatives for school library development<\/li>\n<li>Using data to inform school library advocacy efforts<\/li>\n<li>Communicating with stakeholders and\/or decision-makers<\/li>\n<li>Development of an advocacy purpose and strategies for action\n<ul>\n<li><strong>3 February 2014<\/strong>: Deadline for submission of proposals<\/li>\n<li><strong>3 March 2014:<\/strong> Notification of acceptance<\/li>\n<li><strong>19 May 2014:<\/strong> Deadline for submission of full text of the paper<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2>Important dates:<\/h2>\n<h2>Submission of Proposals \u2013 guidelines:<\/h2>\n<p>Proposals should submitted in the form of an extended abstract and be no more than 500 words in length. Proposals also should include the following information:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Name, title, and employer or affiliated institution of presenter(s)<\/li>\n<li>Title of proposed paper or case study<\/li>\n<li>Address and email address of speaker(s)<\/li>\n<li>Brief biographical statement about each speaker<\/li>\n<li>Language of presentation<\/li>\n<li>Contact information for response to the proposal<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Proposals should be sent by <strong>3 February 2014<\/strong> to:<\/p>\n<p>Dianne Oberg<br \/>\nSecretary of the School Libraries Section<br \/>\nE-mail: doberg@ualberta.ca<\/p>\n<p>The subject line of your submission should be <em>&#8220;IFLA SL Proposal&#8221;<\/em> followed by your last name. For example, <em>&#8220;IFLA SL Proposal &#8211; Oberg&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The contact person for each proposal will be informed by <b>3 March 2014<\/b> whether their proposal has been accepted or not.<\/p>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2>Submission of Final Papers:<\/h2>\n<p>Presenters will be expected to submit abstracts (maximum 300 words) and full papers (maximum 3000 words) as an MS Word file by email to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">doberg@ualberta.ca<\/span> by <strong>19 May 2014<\/strong>. Papers should be in English (or in one of the other official IFLA languages &#8211; Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Russian, and Spanish &#8211; with an English translation attached). Papers must be original and must not have been published previously.<\/p>\n<p><b>Note: <\/b>All expenses, including registration for the congress, travel, and accommodation, are the responsibility of the authors \/presenters.
