{"id":712,"date":"2024-04-12T11:52:47","date_gmt":"2024-04-12T09:52:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ifla.org\/school-libraries\/?p=712"},"modified":"2024-04-12T11:52:47","modified_gmt":"2024-04-12T09:52:47","slug":"the-world-through-picture-books","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ifla.org\/school-libraries\/2024\/04\/12\/the-world-through-picture-books\/","title":{"rendered":"The World Through Picture Books"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The 3rd Edition of\u00a0<strong><em>The World Through Picture Books<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0(WTPB), published in 2023 in the loving memory of Viviana Qui\u00f1ones and edited by Annie Everall and Claire Stuckey, is available in the IFLA Repository at the following URL:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/repository.ifla.org\/handle\/123456789\/3195\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">https:\/\/repository.ifla.org\/handle\/123456789\/3195<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The book of 292 colourful and information-rich pages guides the reader through the amazing variety of 530 selected picture books, representing 57 countries and 37 languages.<br \/>\nPicture books are particularly important for children&#8217;s development and their cultural identity,\u00a0 acting as bridge between them and the world inside and around them, the variety of languages, cultures and values, through an adult (parent, educator, children or school librarian, teacher etc.) who reads aloud with\/for kids.<\/p>\n<p>Since 2011\u00a0<strong><em>The<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0<strong><em>World Through Picture Books<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0project has aimed at creating a list of selected titles from around the world, based on the librarians&#8217; recommendations.
