Endorsement of the 2025 UBC Statement

When the IFLA Governing Board endorsed the revised IFLA Professional Statement on Universal Bibliographic Control (UBC) on 9 July 2025, it marked a significant milestone in the Statement’s development. This endorsement confirms that the Statement has reached full maturity and is now ready to be widely communicated within the global library community. As one of the co-chairs of the UBC Working Group, I had the privilege of being closely involved throughout this journey. Now that the 2025 UBC Statement is officially endorsed, we are eager to disseminate it widely once it has been updated in the IFLA Repository, and to see how the global library field will engage with and build upon this renewed vision.
