2025 IFLA Professional Statement on Universal Bibliographic Control, Endorsed 9 July 2025 by the Governing Board, the 2025 IFLA Professional Statement on Universal Bibliographic Control replaces the previous 2012 Statement.

This new statement was strongly supported by the Professional Council and the five sponsoring committees – the Bibliography, Cataloguing, Subject Analysis and Access, and National Libraries Sections and the Advisory Committee on Standards. After development by the UBC Working Group, the draft document went through two phases of consultation. It was first circulated to all members of the sponsoring committees from 9-25 April 2025. Comments were received from eight members and the feedback was integrated into a new version which was issued for worldwide review from 2-23 May 2025. Another eight comments were received.
